Lifesaving Techniques for the Critically Injured

This course was developed specifically to encompass the most common types of life-threatening and time-sensitive emergencies ANYONE could encounter…whether it’s a parent who finds her infant unable to breathe, a commuter involved in a serious traffic accident, a witness caught in an active-shooter attack, or a professional whose job requires him/her to go into harm’s way alone or as part of a team.  This is a “must have skills” for your toolbox.

The following subjects will be covered:

• Treat trauma induced injuries and apply effective first aid.
• Identify and treat for shock.
• Recognize the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke and begin the immediate follow-up treatment of each.
• Establish and secure an airway.
• Determine vital information to relay to Paramedics upon arrival.
• Scenario training on traumatic accidents, and the steps to stabilize, package, and transport victims.
• Scenario training on gunshot wounds.
• Scenario training on edged-weapon injuries.
• Scenario training on the control of hemorrhagic bleeding.
• Scenario training on unique injuries caused in automobile crashes.
• Scenario training on chemical attacks in public venues.
• Scenario training on active shooter situations.
• Scenario training on IED blast attacks.

Upon completion, students will receive certificates in CPR, AED, and First Aid (via American Heart Association).   No prior training required.
